Padded Shorts for Comfort during Long Distance Cycling
Cycling is one of the most popular sports in almost every country of the world. Lately, with the growing emphasis on using this “eco-friendly” means of communication as well as viewing cycling as a medium to stay healthy, it is used more widely than ever before. If you are among those who spend a considerable time cycling to work or any other place, you probably will be familiar with the fact that cycling to long distance can sometimes be extremely uncomfortable.
You can experience irritation when the cycle passes through bumpy roads and sometimes from the seat of the bike itself. To prevent this, wearing padded shorts is a good idea. Padded shorts are designed to protect your subsequent parts and reduce the level of discomfort by acting as a protective layer between the bike seat and you. Nowadays, with increased demand of cycling padded shorts as well as that for adventure sports, a lot of improved designs in padded shorts are easily available in the market. With the availability of extremely thin padded shorts that stick to your body as a second skin and are easily wearable under your formal office wear, there seems to be no excuse for not wearing one
Giving below is a list of instructions to follow before and while wearing padded shorts:
Inspect the pair of padded shorts to ensure that everything is in place. Examine if all seams are sewn and the outer leather is properly covering all the padding. If the gel and the padding are given as separate (and optional) attachment, insert them into the shorts following the instruction from the manual that came along with the shorts.
Apply a small amount of prickly-heat powder or medicated powder on your skin for easy sliding of shorts. This is also very helpful in controlling sweating and moisture inside the thick padding.
Put on your padded shorts
Make sure that the padded shorts fit well over your leg, waist and thighs. All the padding should be in proper place and the shorts should fit tightly and securely with no gaps against your body.
Put on any other trouser or sports wear over the padded shorts if you wish to.
Wearing a pair of padded shorts in the right manner not only gives added comfort, but also helps in preventing your waist and butt from injuries in case of a fall or collision. Padded shorts are one of the must-have protection accessories for adventure sports lover, especially BMX or MTB riders.
