Sport Replacement Insoles

I’m curious about Spenco insoles…anyone with experience please take the time to read and answer!?
I’ve read pages online where they are referred to as “replacement” insoles. Does this mean that you remove the insoles that came with your shoes and then insert them, or do you put them on top of the original insoles? I’m looking for an extremely supportive insole. I do not like the look of sports shoes designed for walking, running, etc. even though this is the support I need. I prefer to wear Vans and similar shoes, even skimmers, though I kill the padding in these very quickly. I basically want an insole that will create the shell of these shoes with the support of a sports shoe.
Is this what I should purchase? How are they used?
To use these insoles you remove the original insoles.
