Cyclocross bike Seat Height compared to Road Bike Seat Height?
I have had a great deal of difficulty setting the seat height on my cyclocross bike so it mirrors my road bike. Part of the issue is different pedals/shoes for each setup.
Road bike has Speedplay X2s with approx 11 mm stack height (including cleat?) Shoes are Sidi Genius 3s.
Cross bike has Crank Bros Candy SL, with a stack height of 15 mm. Shoes are Lake MTB.
Fore/aft position is approx the same.
Crank arms are 175 mm for both bikes.
Given that information, would you say the seat on the cross bike should be 4 mm higher than the road bike?
My right knee is very sensitive to a seat that is too low or too high, and right now I can’t seem to duplicate the road bike.
I’m not exactly sure why this is an issue. Why measure anything? I set saddle height on my various bikes independently of each other. I simply ride it and make adjustments by trial and error. Knowing what I want is all I need to make the adjustments. Pedals, cranks seat model- none of it matters as long as the out come is the standard height you use for yourself. It takes me a little more time to dial in the stem length and saddle fore and aft adjustments.
