Filippo Candio’s Road To The Top
A Bit About Filippo:
Filippo has some very eclectic interests. In fact, you might call him a kid at heart. One of his favorite TV shows, for example, is an Australian show for children called “Bananas in Pyjamas”. He isn’t alone in that, since many people around the world are fans of the classic show.
On Filippo’s Facebook page he also talks about the movies that he enjoys. Among them are many Disney and Dreamworks pictures. He says that a Dreamworks picture called “Kung Fu Panda” is his favorite out of all of them.
As for music, the 25-year-old likes many different groups and styles. They range from the mainstream, such as Lady Gaga, to Italian artists, like Lucio Battisti and Fabrio de Andre. So, although he’s a sponsored poker professional, he doesn’t spend all of his time just playing poker.
Filippo And Tournament Play:
In Filippo Candio’s home country of Italy, tournament poker is the only form of legalized poker play. So, he and countrymen of his, such as Dario Minieri, tend to be very experienced at tournament play. That may be why Filippo is doing so well in the 2010 WSOP Main Event.
It’s only his 4th live poker tournament, but that hasn’t stopped Filippo from making his mark on the poker world. In fact, he has been sponsored by one of the major poker websites, PokerStars, for quite some time. Although, at the 2010 WSOP Main Event, he is actually sporting Full Tilt patches on his clothes. Regardless of the change in sponsorship, though, Full Tilt is still one of the best poker websites out there.
The Main Event:
At the Main Event, Filippo has definitely been making his presence known. HendonMob states that Filippo Candio’s lifetime poker winnings are only $250,000. That may seem great, but he has already qualified to win at least $206,000 just in the WSOP Main Event alone. So, it’s certainly a big step up in his career, even though he’s been a poker pro for quite a while.
Will he win the entire 2010 Main Event of the World Series Of Poker? Well, poker can be anyone’s game, but, if anyone has a great shot at it, it’s Filippo Candio. He has the tournament experience and the professional backing to go all the way. So, you shouldn’t let Filippo’s age or his hobbies fool you. He certainly shows a skill and presence of mind beyond his years at the poker tables. Each of the opponents who have fallen to his skills in any of his tournaments, including the 2010 Main Event, can attest to that. We’ll be seeing a lot more of Filippo Candio in the future, win or lose, but he’s already a winner for taking it this far in the Main Event.
